According to the article “How can Southeast Asia’s clean energy transition be sped up?” (2019), it is noted that a single approach to reducing emissions will not be adequate in progressing towards a clean energy future, countries will have to customize solutions to fit their needs. In order to proceed with the transition, we need to consider how usage of energy can be lessened, whilst preserving the same habits and also increasing the usage of low carbon technology. However, some methods suggested in the article are too costly for countries like Singapore in order to meet the Paris Agreement by 2030. If ASEAN cannot cut off coal usage, it will be at risk of global warming, leading to an increase in carbon emissions. It is also important to act upon the opportunity to build a strong foundation in energy improving lives along with the growing economy.
